What happens when you apply

When you apply for a job, you are telling us you want the employer to consider you for the mahi. You can apply for the job online anytime — just go to the job listing and select Apply for this job.

You can also apply for jobs over the phone, at a service centre or through your case manager during our open hours.

We look at each application as it comes in. Then we send the employer a shortlist of people who suit the mahi. We let you know if you made the shortlist or if your application was unsuccessful.

If you are on the shortlist, we send your application and CV to the employer. The employer chooses who they interview and who they offer the mahi to.

When you apply we:

Ask about your CV

We check which CV you want us to send to the employer. You can use your Jobseeker profile as your CV or send us a CV you have created yourself.

Ask about references

We ask if you have someone who can talk about your work, study or character. This could be a boss, tutor, teacher or coach.

Tell you about pre-employment checks

We tell you about any checks the employer needs you to complete if you are offered mahi.
